HK Socks

January 4th, 2009 (02:29 pm)

And these lovelies are from Jean. Thanks!

I somehow missed them when I was at H&M HK. Heh.... Can't wait to get a chance to wear them too. But I must say that the designers weren't so smart. When I put them on, HK will smelling my toes and NO ONE will get to see the design once I put on shoes....

HK Christmas presents

I got these and am very very pleased. Can't wait (and yet can't bear) to use the Pilot pens... but they're very very useful.

Heh! God has a sense of humour!

January 1st, 2009 (10:00 am)

As usual, I find that He has such a lovely sense of humour.

I love staying at home pottering about doing nothing much but reading AND watching tv simultaneously - who said that people in MY generation can't multi-task? When we don't seem to be coping, it really means that we're really ignoring you. No matter. I was just doing just that the entire day yesterday, "why?" you may ask. Because I was stricken with the flu! SO much for a healthier year...

I've told anyone who'd listen how I'd like to be less ill next year including my doctor (whom I've seen TWICE just before the new year!!!! 1) for the rashes around my eyes - just THINKING about going back to school gave me that. 2) for the impending flu and inflamed throat.), my physiotherapist (had to have emergency appointment to correct my back, also just before school meeting) and other friends.

So yesterday, I spent the ENTIRE day laid up at home sleeping off the drugs. And I expect it will be so today. In between, I manage to get my "working" wardrobe in order, and try to clean up the place so I can mess it up again when school really reopens.

I'm also, now, vascillating on a decision that I made before the new year and that is to get a membership at *** (place shall remain unnamed to protect my own privacy.... can't have snooping young people pressed to the window watching my uncoordinated self at work) to exercise my health better. Hmmm.... all because I now, do not have an exercise partner. Well, actually, a makan kaki to go eat with AFTER the exercising is done. Heh! We all need motivation, right? Mine just happens to be food.

Before I drop off to a drug-induced sleep, HERE'S WISHING EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY YEAR 2009! *blows nose*

Last day of 2008....

December 31st, 2008 (10:15 am)

I'm supposed to summarise what has happened in 2008 and tell you what my resolutions are for 2009. But I'm not.

Here's what I hope to do next year and hope will come true as well - we know how we plan but God laughs, right?
1) Better health - not so many days on medical leave and less need for physiotherapy
2) More craft-y time - I'm to discover that this time is carved out and not just found just like that
3) More voracious reading - I was so busy this year that I didn't manage to read very much apart from the usual subsistence reading.

Of course, the usual meaningful time with family, friends and new things to be learnt is always there. But I'm really hoping for #1 to come true. 2008 was a very sickly year.

Have a lovely 2009 everyone! Many of you made my 2008 very very special and very memorable!

2009 is a Hello Kitty Year!

December 31st, 2008 (10:12 am)

Next year will be a Hello Kitty year, I predict.

With collaborations with cosmetic giant MAC and Anteprima Plastiq, I foresee it will be a big year for this cat without a mouth. And for this human with a loudmouth, it looks like a very good year 2009 to look forward too.

I received a Hello Kitty Umbrella that I love - but wouldn't buy for myself. And a Hello Kitty pen set and Chirimen pouch from Japan. Heh! =) Happiness and joy! =)

And GOD remembers....

November 16th, 2008 (09:30 pm)

I must remember that GOD remembers, even when I think HE forgets. Or I forget.

I sent off something on July 2, 2008. I forgot all about it and thought that it would come to naught.

Only to be shaken when I received some form of a response on November 10, 2008. Just about 4 months.

The mystery of life continues.... And I wait with bated breath...

Hollywood Remake...

November 11th, 2008 (09:36 am)

I've often wondered why people would want to remake a movie. Is it due to the lack of inspiration or even the arrogance that one can do better?

My musings have to do with the article today about a possible remake of Park Chan Wook's Old Boy. And as we all know, I'm a big fan of Park. I love the trilogy, especially Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.  I wonder about all of this because even the Ring was not spared a remake by Hollywood. Hmmm.... supposedly, there is never an original story. Just a storyline that is told and retold in different viewpoints, different takes and styles.

I'm not for remakes. Especially, not one of Park's work.

House fair 2008

Come! One and all to my first fair of the year!!

It's been a slow craft-y year for me!

Ack!

November 6th, 2008 (09:39 pm)

I was just reading some of my back entries and discovered that my last work-in-progress post was in December of last year! It seems I've been sick a lot of the time and when I'm not sick, I'm about to be sick. Or my back hurts. Or work is just too strenuous. It's interesting that I should STILL be alive.

Hopefully, I'll have some artful posts for the next few weeks!

I guess I'm done?

November 6th, 2008 (09:22 pm)

I've been really quiet lately but I'm still alive and kicking.

This year has been a trip and a half with many busy days just being a whirl of activity.

It's the night before the exam paper and I expected my mailbox to be full of emails, my phone beeping with SOS-type smses or even phonecalls. But everything is silent. No requests for consultations, no panic. It's nice. I'm told that this is because they're well-prepared and I hope so.

So it's a 4 year lead up to this! And then it's done.

Another batch, another year. C'est la vie!
